Our Mission Statement

"It is the purpose of this Learning Academy to provide care for children in a stable, nurturing environment which will encourage the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of each child. The children in our Learning Academy will be valued as unique individuals and will be given the opportunity to learn in a safe, well-planned setting through the implementation of an early childhood and school age curriculum, based on the needs and abilities of children at their individual developmental levels."
Whole Child Development
Age appropriate classrooms to provide learning in a well balanced peer environment.
Physical Development of small and large muscle coordination independence in self-care, and learning through senses. Fine motor activities include puzzles, pegboards, bead stringing, cutting, tracing, pouring, etc. Gross motor activities include balancing, climbing, jumping, hopping and stretching.
Emotional Development to build self-confidence and a positive self-image while developing trust, respect and consideration of others. Learning appropriate ways to express feelings and respond to the feelings of others. Develop independence and self-assertiveness.
In using the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum, we introduce handwriting through fun, age appropriate activities. Students using Handwriting Without Tears have higher scores on foundation printing and cursive skills, and are more prepared for the demands to produce written work in today’s classrooms.
Zoo Phonics Curriculum is used in our classrooms to establish a strong phonics foundation using fun songs and sounds (auditory learning), animals and shapes (visual learning), and games and activities (kinesthetic learning)
Social Development using the Pyramid Model (www.csefel.vanderbilt.edu) handling conflict, developing responsibility and following rules for social interaction.
Language Development from activities including sharing, creative dramatics, listening to and retelling stories, etc. A wide variety of experiences that promote children to express themselves verbally.
Mathematics is introduced through finger plays, counting rhymes, matching, sorting, measuring, number recognition and more.
Science activities provide opportunities for children to discover and explore the world around them. We do simple experiments and study plants and animals.
Social Studies encourages children to be aware of those around them and the world they live in. Field trips, study of holiday celebrations, families, home and customs are all part of our curriculum.
Art is provided as a natural process that allows for self-expression and a feeling of accomplishment. We provide a variety of media: paint, chalk, crayon, play dough, paper, fabric, etc.
Music provides another avenue for creative expression and pleasure. Singing, learning words, using instruments, making sounds in different ways, rhythm and moving to music are ways in which music is shared with the children. Music is an important link between language and mathematics, or creativity and reasoning.
